A Guide to Measuring Window Stays and Window Furniture
Window stays add not only colour to your otherwise plain white window furniture. But they also allow you to create cohesion throughout your interior design, with stay designs and finishes.
Understanding Window Stays and Window Furniture
•Window Stays: These are metal arms that allow you to secure a window in an open position. They typically have holes along the arm that fit over pins on the window frame, helping to hold the window open at various angles.

Guide to Measuring Window Stays
Most stays are measured from the end of the design to the knuckle of the stay. with 8" (20.32cm) having 3 holes 10" (25.4cm) having 4 and 12" (30.48cm) having 5 holes.
For our casement stays we offer a 8, 10 and 12 inch stays. However when it comes to measuring and choosing the right stay for your project. It's vastly more about aesthetics than accurate measurements. Depending on your window width we recommend leaving at least 10-25cm either side of your window for any window stays simply for aesthetic purposes.
1.Determine the Style and Type of Stay
Different windows require different types of stays. Identify if you need a friction stay, restrictor stay, or another type based on your window style. Each type has its unique measurement considerations.
2.Measure the Length of the Stay
For an accurate length measurement, close the window fully and measure from the pivot point at the frame to the pivot point at the sash. This is typically the distance between the two hinges when the stay is in the closed position.
